"Social networks are emerging as key tools for business innovation" by Chuck Hamilton
Single men & women, mothers, families, teens, seniors, college students and business people are aggregating in virtual forums or social networking sites like: facebook, Linkedin and myspace all around the world to connect with each other. Members join facebook for instance, collaborate with each other from diverse backgrounds and different perspectives from locations all over the world.
One would ask what is the big deal with virtual worlds converging? From big business to people who want to meet new people in a safe place. There are many benefits. If you are doing research and development, it is much cheaper to pull together expertise from the network in a relatively fast time frame. Plus, there is no expense of buying: airline tickets, hotel rooms, food expenses for hundreds of people.
For non commercial users, such as women or men looking for a potential mate, it is a great way to be exposed to your friends' friends without getting dressed up, buying a new wardrobe, find a babysitter or even risk rejection by being introduced to other strangers through creating a profile or avatar of yourself on: myspace, facebook, linkedin.
Can Leaving Your Profile on FaceBook or Linkedin expose you to identity theft
Which could lead you to start hiring lawyers and many years of suffering with your bad name and spiraling credit score. Facebook and Linkedin lets you stay connected to former co-workers, business associates and potential clients. From a business application point of view, potential employers can view your profile without you knowing about it. So, if you are a hot commodity, you could potentially be getting a raise with all kinds of perks you would otherwise not get at your current job.
