Bank Won't Give Me A Home Loan

I am building a cottage type house that is only less than 2000 square feet, I went there with my architect, builder, and even my father in law and they would not approve me for the home loan. I have heard of these terms, liquidity crisis, tightened lending standards, but do you know what is going on?
